Medlet plays live in 2025: LIVA
Fast forward and here we are in late 2025. By contrast to the main Tale post coming up soon, this really is brief: my focus being the sound (coming up even sooner). Essentially, as we move into 2026, a new Chapter of Medlet's sound history is made available here free on line - a live recorded accompaniment to the multi tracks made a quarter of a Century ago (Medlet's tale "blue print" takes). Click on the links below to access two live mixes created in May this year: get in the audience!
Again, the aim of this Blogger post is to musically and creatively educate and inspire much better things. Medlet works with disused technology (he prefers to be as green as long grass!): the mixes are done in an evolved but still basic home studio. How about leveraging your improvisational skills and creating a live parallel channel accompaniment to some of your previously recorded compositions? A powered mixer (like Medlet's Yamaha in the picture below), your instrument(s) and a CD recorder are the main tools you'll need if you prefer a vintage sound. Anyway, LIVA is a click away for your delight and delectation. Genre: Post music :-) :
LIVA (Medlet live 2025) The finale (!)
Finally, here is another 'blue print' tune from the initial 2024 post (you'll find it if you read on): another live take/mash up.
Sleeve notes:
So Medlets frets and vocal chords have been a buzzing in 25 into a salvaged powered mixer and down river into the mouth of an old consumer grade Phillips CDR deck. New takes, juxtaposing a sight reading, better musically literate, luthier/post music composer went down on CD and here in this Blogger post are available to all in MP3 form: new live demos - all the synonyms. The Woos driving force insists, in his bio, that proficiency is not necessary for musical success: don't perhaps seek it in Medlets LIVA: he still lives in Pete's docs! Medlet admits to a few timing issues and improvising minus main channel audibility (!): hmthicknotes.
Now, for anybody interested technically, here's a quick explanation of how the tunes were cut this past year. This post is not just about sharing brand new genre tunes or ego massage Medlet's end.
A fresh "axe" (electric guitar) in the form of a Squier™ Telecaster constitutes the entire live strings section in each mix. Minuet 27 is received via DNM Reson by a disused stage mixer from an RSQ Consumer Karaoke deck in mono to establish the gist of each improvised solo: that was it. A degunked Peavey™ Audition 110 was the passive recording monitor (wired up with a 1 meter Ernie Ball™ speaker interconnect purchased in Morley's Music™).
That thin is created largely on a guitar looper with an ageing and intermitting Casio keyboard, disused percussion and some, now vintage, Medlet impressions/straight vocals. The lead and rhythm Tele parts occupy their own unlooped channel on the mixer.
Enjoy the new post music genre and please take proper care of yourself. Go create sweet friend (in Germany, Ecuador, the US or wherever): music can be for all of us if we wish hard enough...
